LADWP Home Insulation Rebate Program
LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power have announced a $100 million home insulation rebate program Friday. Its goal is to reduce energy consumption and cut DWP bills.
Garcetti suggested that adding insulation will reduce usage of air-conditioning and reduce pressure on the city’s power grid.
“We are here to help people shrink their bills and make their homes more comfortable,” Garcetti said. “This insulation rebate program will help take pressure off the electrical grid, which is increasingly stressed by a warming climate, so we can keep reducing the number of power outages caused by extreme temperatures.”
This program will prove homeowners a rebate that will cover $1 per square foot of insulation up to 80 percent and is one of many rebates being proposed through the Consumer Rebate Program of LADWP.
The mayor showcased the program in the Faircrest Heights neighborhood. DWP General Manager David Wright joined Garcetti, and stated that putting in insulation would make for a worthy investment for homeowners and could potentially save them up to $40 per month on their electricity costs.
“It’s the best investment in energy efficiency and, frankly, environmental responsibility that you can make at your home,” Wright said. “Many of our customers overlook attic insulation as one of the easiest ways to save money on their electric bill. With this new rebate, we want to help make it more affordable for our customers to make their homes much more comfortable and energy efficient for years to come. We encourage all of our customers to explore this and the many other money-saving programs and rebates offered by LADWP.”
Home insulation is an important step in your effort to conserve and maximize your energy production. Customers of solar can benefit the most by producing their own electricity and becoming immune to rising rates of utility companies.
